We know that security
is your first concern. It's ours too! |
|
File Encryption |
|
Encryption is used to provide a secure
method of handling your data. All data is encrypted and compressed
before it is sent to our servers. It remains encrypted and compressed
until you request that it be restored. The Client software provides
all the tools you need to completely protect your data, from selecting the
encryption levels to assigning a secret encryption key.
The
Web-Backup
client software offers three powerful encryption algorithms. |
|
Blowfish
|
The blowfish algorithm uses a 448-bit
encryption key and is the most secure of the available algorithms because
of the long key length. This is the default encryption used by
Web-Backups. |
|
Triple-DES |
This algorithm uses a 192-bit key length
and provides very strong protection. This is stronger than the
encryption commonly used by most banks. |
|
DES |
DES uses a 128-bit key length and
provides strong encryption. The DES algorithm was the encryption
standard for the government for several years. This is the
encryption commonly used by banks. |
|
Encryption Key |
|
Default Key |
The
Web-Backup
client uses your assigned logon information (username/password)
to generate the encryption key. This is the default client
setting. |
|
Secret Key |
Using the
Web-Backup
client software, you can assign a "secret" key that is
only known by you. The client still uses your assigned
username/password to gain access to our servers.
